About 2000 years ago blackberries were discovered by Europeans amongst clumps of prickly bushes. Blackberries are full of Vitamin A & C, Calcium, Iron and are also low in cholesterol and sodium. The health benefits of blackberries outweighed the chances of being pricked by the plant as the Europeans enjoyed their blackberry pies quite a lot.
